2012!!!

Happy New Year!!! 2011 has died and 2012 risen from it's ashes. Here's a picture of my paper crown and a couple of crackers we popped...
There's my crown!! It's orange, and I wrote 2012 on it later, I feel so special! We greeted the new year with sparkling cider, orange crown on top of my head. We watched I Love Lucy episodes and Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian. Pretty awesome, right? Well, happy 2012 everyone!
So, it's January 2012 now, meaning the start of the Small Stones challenge, and here's my very first stone written within the first minute of 2012!
                                                                      The ball drops,
                                                                 Down, down, down...
                                                                    5...4...3...2...1...
I could have written much, much more, but I thought it should stay short and sweet, I'll probably extend it later on.
Song of the Day: Marry the Night- Lady Gaga
This is one of the songs Lady Gaga sang in the New Years Eve celebration in NYC, and I thought it was the perfect song for New Years!
Have an amazing 2012 everybody!!!

New Years Eve!!

Hey everyone!
So it's New Years Eve! I can't believe it, it feels like we just started 2011. Personally, I'm sad to see 2011 go, this year went sooo quickly! 2011 was good to me, a nice break since 2010 was one year-long rollercoaster. I hope 2012 will be just as wonderful.
My family always does something special for New Years. We stay up until midnight, watch Christmas movies, and each of us choose a special treat to enjoy during the countdown. This year, I chose...
Twinnings Earl Grey tea and German and Italian chocolate, a perfect New Years feast! Then we'll watch the countdown on TV, and when the New Year comes, we'll drink Ginger Ale and clink our fancy glasses together. Its one of those traditions that you never really grow out of, you know?
Have an amazing New Year everyone!! Have an awesome time with whatever you're doing for New Years, if you're either going to a party or staying home with your family. Happy New Year Everyone!

Top of the mornin' to ya!

Hey everyone! I just woke up an hour or so ago, and I've been blog-surfing ever since, and while I was browsing Blogspot's glories and I found is this...
This is a challenge that was issued by the bloggers at writingourwayhome.com that I just found a couple minutes ago, and I was intrigued. The challenge is to write a little something (poetry, which is what I will be doing) about something you see each day for the month of January 2012. Well, I thought that this was an awesome idea! So each day I'll write a 'small stones', and I'll post them whenever I can. I'm so excited to start this in January, definitely something to look forward to!
Also, before the new year, I'll be posting a couple of posts reminiscing about 2011. I will be posting an Ultimate Playlist  of 2011 (everyone knows how much I love making playlists!) and a Favorite Memories of 2011 post. The playlist will go up sometime today, and the Memories one will probably go up either today or tomorrow. Please check back soon if you would like to see either of those!
Song of the Day: A Thousand Years- Christina Perri
This is such a pretty song! I listened to it for the first time yesterday and I fell in love... It definitely earned a place on my Letters From England Playlist! This song is also on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack (what can I say? I got it for Christmas and it has the best songs.)
Have an awesome morning everyone! Will post later...

Oh, the mall...

Just got back from a trip to the mall an hour or so ago... You'd think that I'd love the mall, that every normal teenage girl should adore going to the mall, and that's true for most of my peers. Well, I must be crazy then because I hate the mall. I hate the trying-on-of-clothes, the noise and crowds. Some years I barely go three times, though while I have gotten older the number of trips have escalated. I do like shopping, like going to cute little boutiques in the city, where there are original stuff you won't find anywhere else, and the people there are actually nice to you. I love dressing up in the cute little original things I get at those places.
Think I'm weird? I don't blame you... maybe you feel the same way I do. I have just never really fit in in places like that, where the people are much more fashionable and skinnier than me, and they can shop places I can't (the clothes they make today don't cater to my curves, sadly). I'd rather be in a bookstore or library.
Funny story about the bookstore... I was at one of my friend's birthday parties once, and when it was over, I had called my mom to pick me up. She said she would be a while, since her and my dad were at the bookstore. I teasingly whined like 'You went to the bookstore without me?!?' Okay, half teasing, I don't like missing a trip to the bookstore. And one of my friends overheard me and said 'What's the big deal? It's just the bookstore, not an amusement park or something.' And I answered 'Your amusement park is my bookstore.' And she just laughed and changed the subject. I found that funny, how two people can see the same place or thing so differently. I guess all this kinda links to the old cliche saying... One person's trash is another person's treasure. Night Night, Everyone!

Holiday

I love Christmas! Even though it is December 29, and way past Christmas day, there is still a Christmas-y vibe in the air. I also love the Winter Break we get off of school, which is such a relief! I love the free time I have, I can sleep in, write whenever I want, read whatever I want, it's wonderful. I have recently started a book called Anna and the French Kiss. I just started it, but I got to page 69 in one night, which is pretty good for me, since I read so painfully slow. It's a love story, and if you've ever read one of my stories or know me personally, you'll know I'm a sucker for love stories... and old British television shows. The best day is waking up at 10 am, reading until noon, and then watching Keeping Up Appearances and Mr. Bean, apple spice tea in hand, until you get so sleepy you can't keep your eyelids open anymore. Kind of weird, I know, if I'm the only one who thinks so I wouldn't be surprised.

la neige (a.k.a. snow!)... a random post

Pardon the French title, I've been teaching myself French and I found 'snow' in the French-English dictionary. I'm just starting off, so I'm not very good at all... But anyway,I looked outside to a view of snow just now. I love snow... how soft and how pretty it is. Nothing beats waking up on a weekday morning to a white blanket covering everything outside, untouched and pristinely white. It missed Christmas, but what can you do? Snow is much better than rain. Rain may be romantic, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Pride and Prejudice and all that, but snow beats it all. I love looking up to a white sky and knowing what's coming, don't you? Here’s a little haiku about snow, fresh off the press in my mind…

Snow, beautiful snow
Little snowflakes flutter down
Laying on the ground

Song of the Day: Endtapes- The Joy Formidable
I have been obsessing about this song for a few days now, it’s on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack. It has a really awesome sound, even if you can’t really understand what it’s about. I’ll eventually figure it out J

My Very First Post!

Welcome to Lizzie’s Garden!
Well, this is my very first blog post! I'm so excited, I've wanted a blog for a while, and I finally got around to getting one!
I haven't introduced myself, haven't I? I'm Lizzie Rose, I'm a writer and a dreamer. You already know that I'm a writer from my 'about me' section here, but that was about it. I never know what to write in the 'about me', it isn't easy describing yourself in a paragraph.
Writing is my life, and I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing. Even when I was little, I would draw a story or write in squiggles and my parents would pretend to know exactly what they meant. I am currently writing a series called Letters from England. No, you’ve never heard of it before, unless you’re my mom or my cousin… You’re probably going to hear about the story and its characters a lot, though, just a warning. I also write poetry, and recently I have started writing some short stories (they’re probably not very good though). I may share some of my poems with you guys on here; we’ll see how things go.
I also love music, I play the flute and the Irish tin whistle. I’m not in a band or anything; I teach myself the music using some old workbooks and YouTube videos. I love to sing, I’m a proud Soprano 1! Music plays a very large part in my writing, and I have formed playlists for Letters from England and my short stories. I’ve been thinking that maybe I’ll have a ‘song of the day’ with each post I make, so that should be a lot of fun, too!
Well, that’s pretty much it… I can’t wait to post more to my blog! I’m hoping to post very often, maybe every other day? I’ll form a schedule very soon. Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you’ll come back soon!
